Synergy, as defined by Chambers 20th Centaury Dictionary, is “combined or co-ordinate action.” Boving Fouress, (BFL) modifies that definition to, “combined or co-ordinated action with exponential results. “At BFL, we have synergy in many different forms, and all of them translates to better product, better service at a better price.

Primarily, we have synergy in that we are a joint venture company between Fouress Group and Kvaerner industries. Kvaerner is a US$6 billion group based out of Norway with varied business interest. More specially, however, they have been in the hydro turbine business for over 150 years and are the UN disputed leaders in the global market. Since 1848, when the first turbine was delivered, Kvaerner Hydro Power Companies have supplied turbines that total over 80,000 MW in output. They have design, R&D, marketing and manufacturing facilities located all over the globe and BFL is linked to all of that through Kvaerner Boving, (KBO) of the United Kingdom.

The next form of synergy we have is the combined efforts of he human resources. We have a small tight knit group of highly creative, extremely motivated, focused professionals. We have found that individuals with a strong technical base have better cognizance of the end customer’s requirements and the nature of our business. They can therefore, add greater value to the products and services the company had to offer, whether or not they directly contribute to the design or manufacture of the product. Which is why you will find that a number of non-engineering functions at BFL, have engineering performing them.

We feel that every thing we do should have the end use of the product in mind, and having recruited the right people, we provide them training, whether at our works, collaborators offices in Europe, or at seminars or workshops held by independent bodies, which reinforces this concept.

Finally, we provide the necessary tools to the members of BFL. These tools range from the material to the ideological in that it can be specialised computer software to perform a job more efficiently, or it could be the flexibility to make decisions that settle the customer’s difficulties instantly.
