A40 Series Diaphragm Actuators

Fouress range of diaphragm actuators is designed to suit the majority of control applications and offer an economical solution to valve control.

The diaphragm actuator is available in two basic forms, the direct action type (A40 series and the reverse acting type (A41 series). Both ranges are suitable for modulation applications when used inconjuction with a suitable control device. Alternatively they can be used for on/off applications.

A number of optional features can also be specified such as manual and hand wheels or travel limit stops. The simplicity of design of the actuator enables routine maintenance in the field without the need for removal of the actuator to the workshop.

All actuators in the Fouress range are produced in the same range of travels and bonnet mount diameters and are interchangeable size-for-size on any Fouress valve body.

A40 & A41 Diaphragm Actuator F-Description

Fouress Sprint Return diaphragm actuators are available in Direct and Reverse Acting types. A40A (direct acting) when used on a "pull Stem to open" valve, results in a normally open "Air-to-close" action; on a "Push Stem to open" valve, the result is normally shut, "air-to-open" action. A 41A (Reverse Acting) when used on a "Pull stem to open" valves gives normally shut, "air-to-open" action.

Design Features

  •  Side Mounted Handwheel (geared)
  • Side Mounted Handwheel (clip on)
  • Top Mounted Handwheel
  • Top Mounted Limit Stop

Travels

 19mm (3/4") to 178mm (7")

Mounting

The Actuator yoke allows easy access to the gland and stem coupling. The base is secured to the bonnet by a clamping ring (on larger yoke mountings bolts are used and the complete unit may be removed without disturbing the gland of the valve.

Stem Coupling

Actuator and valve stems are connected by a steel split coupling, the halves bolted together to ensure to tight union.

Position Indicator

A travel indicator having pointer and graduated plate shows the position of the valve plugs at all times.
